2. Creating a Nova for GURPS Supers

Creating a character for Aberrant, called Nova, is a two step process: first you design a normal character based on 100 points, after that you give him his Nova powers.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

No Powers/Advantages allowed from GURPS Supers

2.1 Normal Character

Each character in Aberrant starts out as a normal person, so you should design a character based on your preferred job/background. You may not buy Super Advantages/Powers now.

2.2 New Attributes and Advantages

Aberrant uses some new attributes and advantages, that translate to GURPS as follows:

Will Points/Willpower Points (WP)

WP are an replacement for the Strong Will. Will Rolls are now made based upon IQ+WP-3. Each character starts with 3 WP, additional WP cost 5 CP each. WP can be used for:

  • Free Success: You can spend a WP to get one free success when you roll for a skill
  • Resist instinctual response (Ab145)
  • Resist mental powers: You can spend a WP to resist the effect of some mental powers or make Will Roll
  • Max Quantum Power:see Quantum

2.4 Eruption or the Nova Step

Each Nova Character gets 30 Nova Points (NP).

IMPORTANT NOTE:

No Powers/Advantages allowed from GURPS Supers

  • One Mega-Attribute Level costs 3 NP
  • An Enhancement for a Mega-Attribute costs 3 NP
  • One Quantum costs 5 NP
  • A Quantum Power of Level X costs X NP
  • 15 GURPS Character Points costs 1 NP.
  • One point in Quantum Pools costs 1/2 NP
  • One Willpower Point (WP) costs 1 NP
